
Founded by Rev. Dr. Loreno R. Flemmings, this initiative was born from a deep desire to see churches thrive—not just in size but in spiritual vitality, faithfulness to Christ’s mission, and meaningful community engagement.
Founder of the Health and Faithfulness Project
Rev. Dr. Loreno R. Flemmings is a lifelong servant-leader committed to the health, faithfulness, and transformation of the church. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Flemmings holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo, a Master’s in Public Administration from Clark Atlanta University, a Master of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, and a Doctor of Ministry from New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Flemmings has held numerous roles that reflect both his heart for ministry and his training in urban development and congregational health. He has served as City Planner for the City of Petersburg’s Department of Planning and Community Development, an Urban Mission Consultant for International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches, USA, and as a Church Health Assessment Consultant with the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey.
Currently, Dr. Flemmings is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Somerville, New Jersey. His pastoral leadership spans decades and includes congregations in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
He is married to Dr. Jacqueline D. Flemmings. Together, they have three adult children—two daughters and a son—and are the proud grandparents of three granddaughters.
Growing a Healthy and Faithful Congregation is Dr. Flemmings’ first published book and the cornerstone of the Health and Faithfulness Project.
